1. Although I am Irish, I cannot speak Irish, and only have a small and odd vocabulary.
2. I often listen to audiobooks, either while working, drawing or lying in bed.
3. I am always slightly paranoid that I am annoying whoever I'm talk to, and are they just too polite to say so. I always wonder if laughter at my jokes are feigned.
4. I have gone through various 'obssessions', such as Dinosaurs, video games, chain mail (the medival kind), mythology and crystals.
5. I have never completed a game of Pokemon, and I have sworn to myself I will play until I do so.
6. My great Aunt was the first female head librarian in Dublin, and my house is always full of books.
7. I have a horrific habit of dropping past friends when I am no longer in contact with them.
8. People from Enniscorthy, Dublin, Wexford, Limerick and Hong Kong have all urged me to stop saying sorry. They have all failed.
9. I hate making excuses for myself.
10. I find it easier to talk to girls than guys. I can't remember why.

After 2 years of internet silence, I'm going to start posting here again.

I've taken up drawing again, after doing 30 minute sketches in school. A nice bolster to my ego happened after I got the Art Leaving cert Student of the Year award.

Only a few weeks ago I finished my Leaving cert, the Irish Version of the A-Levels. We have to learn 7 subjects, with a test on each. I had decided to do all Higher level. I'm still recovering.

Before that though I was informed of some amazing news.

I had applied for a travel award with EIL (Experiment in Intercultural learning), a group who send young people across the globe to learn about other cultures, and bring people to Ireland to learn about ours.

To be considered for consideration, I needed to write an essay on what I would bring to the exchange.

To be considered, I needed to take part in a group interview.

I did both. And was chosen to go to Hong Kong, as apart of a delegation from the 10th to the 20th of August.

That is one of the furthest places you can be from Ireland. (The furthest place, also known as the Antipod, is south of New Zealand but we can't have everything.) My main concern is souveniers. You go halfway across the globe, you have to bring back souveniers and gifts for everyone back home or you will not wish to return at all. The disappointed silences are the worst. I'll need to bring extra suitcases just for the stuff.

I personally want to get a dǒu lì, the stereotypical conical straw hat. Maybe I will never wear it again, but thats not the point. I've been fasinated by the Orient since I was small enough to watch pokemon without being thought wierd. Japan, China, Vietnam, All areas I'd love to see. And now, I'm going to go to the fragrant harbour, A country smaller than Ireland but crowded with about twice the population.

Also, lets face it: Irelands financial system isn't working. Lets have a look at the financial capitals of the world and take inspiration therefrom, yes?

Hello, I am Dara. I am a sixteen year old Irish male, who, once he has found a suitable thing to draw, will attempt to draw it. Sometimes well, or at least I believe so, and am told.
Thats partially the reason I have made this profile, but also because this way I am showing lots of people my drawings/Other projects.

Thank you very much for reading, and I hope I eventually exceed any expectations. And if I have done that already by joining, then Yay.
